First time students require a classroom orientation prior to attending. This applies especially to the Level 1 & 2 Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) students, ages 3 through 12.

Youth Catechetical Programs
Sunday School
In addition to learning the hymns and traditions of our Greek Orthodox Church, students from 3 to 18 years old will learn the following, divided into 3 classrooms:
Level 1 Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (ages 3-6)
In Level 1, children encounter the love of Jesus through Scripture, prayer, and hands-on materials in a specially prepared environment called the Atrium. At the heart of this level is Jesus the Good Shepherd, who knows His sheep, calls each one by name, and invites them into a loving relationship with Him. Children are also introduced to the life of Christ, the Church’s liturgical life, the altar, and the mystery of Holy Communion.
Level 2 Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (ages 7-12)
In Level 2, children build upon their relationship with Jesus the Good Shepherd and begin to explore more deeply their own place in God’s Kingdom. Through Scripture, parables, liturgy, salvation history, and hands-on work, children consider their relationships with God and others, moral choices, the gifts God has given them, and how they are called to respond to His love and participate in the life of the Church.
Upper School (ages 13-18)
The teenagers in this class will learn and grow through a roundtable discussion based approach. Last year we studied and learned from the book Journey to Reality. This year we are building on that by taking the class by the same author: The Mind of the Church: What Orthodoxy Is and Isn't. The video modules and discussion questions of this class will be the main instruction material of our class, coupled with occasional icon and feast day study. The best way to support and learn alongside your student is by reading the book.

Saint John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival is a National Oratorical program for 7th through 12th graders. Students give speeches at the local parish level and can move up to the Conference, Metropolis and Archdiocesan levels where scholarship awards can be earned.
